Our final award winner is... Kerry Ellis 🗣✨

In recent years Kerry has suffered severe and significant health issues which have impacted heavily upon her life and her families lives. Kerry however is nothing but determined. With the love and support of her husband Matt and her boys, Kerry turns every negative in to a positive and every wall she faces in to a climbing frame!

Despite all of the many challenges in Kerry’s life, Kerry always puts everyone else’s needs, issues, problems and difficulties above her own. Kerry has qualified as a counsellor and on a daily basis offers free counselling sessions for anyone within our community who would benefit from a session. Kerry also runs free group counselling sessions on a weekly basis.

Kerry is a sunny soul who teaches all so much. No one deserves this award more than Kerry for ‘service above self’. 👏🏼 And lets not forget Arthur Ellis 🐶

The second award went to... Jane Dovey! ♻️

Tutor for Academy Transformation Trust Further Education working with Adults with additional needs. It is through her work that Jane has become a real ‘green hero’ ensuring that recycling and sustainability is at the heart of all what she teaches. Examples include Remembrance Day poppies to adorn Ollerton Roundabout made out of recycled coco cola cans. Display boards made out of mosaic bottle tops and a quest to make an arm chair out of waste bottles filled with waste crisp packets etc.

Each and every day Jane takes time, care and energy to ensure that recycling is at the heart of how she lives her life and what she teaches. She leads by example and is inspiring at what she achieves. Well done Jane for showing us the way forward. 🌳 ♻️

We had numerous winners during the awards ceremony hosted by the Rotary Club of Sutton-in-Ashfield on Monday 11th November 19.

The Rotarians presented the following awards during the night:

⭐️ ‘Awesome Team’ - Essential Employability⭐️

🌳 Our ‘Green Hero’ - Jane Dovey 🌳

🗣 ‘Service above self’ - Kerry Ellis 🗣

The Essential Employability Skills Team are part of Academy Transformation Trust Further Education delivering lifelong learning to Adults who are unemployed within the Ashfield area. The team teach a variety of different subjects from English, Maths, IT and Employability skills. Individually and collectively they achieve excellent outcomes, hold an outstanding teaching profile and have high destination data rates which is indicative of their approach to supporting learners in moving on to another education course or in to employment. This is no mean task in education right now and present as an awesome achievement in its own right.

The Essential Employability Team do however achieve much more than delivering learning. They deeply care about each learner, they go above and beyond to holistically support learner’s individual needs.👏🏼🤝
