We are immensely proud of our governor, Anita Jackson, who was honoured with the Reservist Award at the prestigious Boots & Berets Awards Ceremony at the Nottingham Plaza Hotel on Thursday, 11 September 2025.
This award recognises Anita’s outstanding contribution to the Ministry of Defence, alongside her exceptional professional career within the NHS.
A Distinguished Military Career
Anita holds the senior rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Queen Alexandra’s Royal Army Nursing Corps and serves as Senior Officer 1 (SO1) Counter CBRN Capability Lead. She has been attached to the Medical Operational Support Unit (MOSU), 2 Medical Brigade since 1992 — over three decades of dedicated service.
Her skills in medical defence development and operations have seen her deploy on numerous NATO exercises, including Exercise Brilliant Jump in Poland in 2024. Anita has also played a pivotal role in reviewing, revising, and refining Military Medical Plans for the King’s Coronation and eight other formal Royal events.
Through her work, she has driven the integration of military and NHS medical practices, improving standards of care for trauma patients. In partnership with the Academic Department of Military Emergency Medicine, Anita has pioneered advancements in pre-hospital documentation, including trauma charts, transfusion worksheets, and surgical notes. These innovations ensure military teams align with NHS standards and contribute valuable data for ongoing research.
A Successful NHS Leader
Alongside her military service, Anita has forged a highly successful career in the NHS. She currently serves as Procurement Programme Manager for NHS England’s New Hospitals Programme.
Previous leadership roles have included:
-
Senior Operations Manager, Covid-19 National Vaccination Programme
-
Strategic Local & Performance Intelligence Lead
-
Group Transformation Director, NHS Humber Health Partnership
Her expertise in procurement, management, and strategic planning has made a lasting impact on both local and national healthcare services.
