These CPCAB qualifications are designed to give learners the underpinning knowledge, skills and competencies to use counselling skills ethically and safely in a variety of contexts and roles.
Level 2 Award in Introduction to Counselling Skills (ICSK-L2)
This qualification is intended for candidates who want to:
Learn basic counselling skills (listening and responding skills) in helping roles
Find out more about counselling (this qualification won’t teach them to be a counsellor, but may help them decide whether or not they want to train as one);
Improve professional and personal relationships.
Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills
The Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills course aims to introduce learners into the use of counselling skills in their everyday life of work. There are two routes to choose from.
Short Course
The short course is fully online and is suitable for those who would like to up-skill in counselling to support current job roles or as an introduction to counselling skills.
The online course is flexible and your learning can take place at a time to suit your lifestyle.
You will have access to a tutor for support and you will be allocated 6 weeks to complete.
Long Course
The long course is classroom based and is for learners who are keen to undertake counselling in more detail and is designed to give learners the underpinning knowledge, practical skills and competencies to use counselling skills ethically and safely in different contexts and roles.
The qualification is for those starting the first level of training as a professional counsellor, those who want to learn counselling skills in other professional or helping roles and those who want to improve their professional and personal relationships as part of personal development. This course will lead to a CPCAB qualification.
This qualification is intended for candidates who have already acquired a recognised qualification in counselling skills and want to:
-take the next step in training to become a counsellor
-learn more about counselling theory, ethics and mental health
-be prepared for work as a professional counsellor in an agency setting.
This two year part-time qualification gives learners the knowledge, skills and competencies to work as a therapeutic counsellor in an agency context. It is designed to lead to an employed or voluntary role in a counselling agency in both health care and non-medical settings. Learners with sufficient experience can also begin working as independent practitioners in private practice. Entry requirements You must have obtained both our Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills and our Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Studies, or their equivalent.
